Peter Learned to play the cornet with Budleigh Salterton and East Budleigh Town bands. After joining the Royal Navy at the tender age of 15 yrs and serving on HMS Ark Royal. Peter played with volunteer bands finishing with HMS Drake Blue Jacket Band in the rank of band sergeant and playing the Tuba. Since then Peter has played with Chagford and Bovey Tracy brass bands on Tuba and trombone.He also attended the SWBBA sponsored conductors course held at Chelsea College London and was awarded the BBA Conductors certificate. After leaving the navy Peter went on to college after which he became a maths and music teacher at Honiton Community College,Peter was responsible for brass instruction but also started up a saxophone quartet, he had to buy and play a baritone sax to make up the group. Peter helped to run Music centres at Honiton and Ottery St Mary and is a founder member of the Budleigh Salterton Male Voice Choir. Peter was also responsible for school German exchanges over 15 years, during which he played with and conducted German bands on many occasions. Peter now plays baritone sax with the Exmouth Town Concert band
