THEFT

It seems that someone needs was more deserving than the bands and the charities that we support because they stole our collecting boxes while the band was playing.

CONGRATULATIONS

Matthew Kain (Middle) made the local newspaper having just received his GCSE exams results gaining straight 'A' and 'A*' levels. Matthew is a very competant cornet player having been with the band since he was 10 years of age.

NEW BAND ATTIRE

we decided to buy new polo shirts and fleeces which can be worn at Fetes and Monday night concerts on the seafront. The jackets can then be kept in a better condtion for major concerts. As the nights cool down I can hear certain members of the band saying how much warmer they are than the jackets. Have we done something right for a change I hear myself saying!!! They were worn for the first time at Exmouth Hospital Fete which happened to be, probably the sunniest and hottest day in Exmouth for how long!?

WEDDING OF THE YEAR

On Saturday 14th July 2007 Yvonne (clarinet) married Jeff at Pinhoe Road Baptist Church Exeter Devon. The weather was perfect especially as it poured down either side of the wedding day. Until recently Yvonne worked for the Met Office so she must have called in a few favours for the sun to shine.
Yvonne has retrained as a teacher and has been offered a job in Newton Abbot so congratulations twice over.

Band on the Move

After some six years at the Doyle Centre we were finally given our marching orders as the EDD council were closing the facilities for the disabled. After over a year of searching the band finally moved to a hall in the Exmouth Community College. The band had to buy an insulated trailer to house all the equipment which is now situated alongside the hall.

GOODBYE REBECCA

Sadly Rebbeca has left the band after some 3 years. (yes she did have a 'blubber' in the bushes after last Mondays concert) Rebecca was employed by the MET Office in Exeter. When Rebecca was asked if the weather would hold for a Monday night concert, her answer would be " well I am looking out of the window and the cows are laying down and its raining, so guess tonight would be off " now thats what I call a professional!! (what did we pay her for) She leaves us for pastures new in Bristol.

WEDDING OF THE YEAR

On Friday 18th August 2006 Hilary (our flute player) married Jamie at Gwithian Church Hayle Cornwall, Even though the weather was thunderstorms, lightening and tornado's just a few yards away. Hilary had perfect blue sky and sunshine, well they say the sun shines on the righteous but in fact, both Hilary & Jamie work for the MET Office and so the MET (not Jim ) fixed it.
