The 2011 award for Bandsman of the Year went to flautist Vicky Holloway for her loyalty and service to the band for more than 20 years. The trophy for Musicanship – the most improved musician – was presented to clarinet player Chris Chapman. The trophies were presented by Chairman Carreen Hext.

To Yvonne Osborne (Solo Clarinet) and Husband Geoff. Yvonne gave birth on 23rd December 2009 at Honiton Maternity Hospital to a girl weighing 8lb 8ozs. Mother and baby very well. They were allowed home on Christmas Day so both had the best present that day.

ETCB Players in Scotland

John, Wendy, Briony and Andrew spent a weekend in October 2009 in Glasgow at the Erskine Bridge Hotel where they enjoyed a weekend of playing at the Windband Association Annual Festival with 60 players coming from all over the country. Conductors for the weekend were David Marshall (Bandleader Publications) Kevin Lamb (Ex DOM Kneller Hall) Martin Wills (Taunton Wind Band)

Just to show how dedicated these four players were they all flew back in time for band rehearsal on Monday night. Yes they did arrive sober!!

After the very sad loss of Keith Whittall, the members of Denning Court Exmouth raised monies at their weekly coffee mornings. This group for many years attended the police band Christmas concert at Exeter University and continue to support our band each year.

At their coffee morning they raised a total of £200 which they wished to be used in some way to remember Keith. Talks are still its early stages but it has been suggested that a piece of music be commisioned in memory of Keith.

After the very sad loss of Keith Whittall the band has now elected a new Director of Music.

We welcome Steve Grant (ex Royal Marine Bandsman) Steve takes over the post as of today 20th Jan 2009. Details will be added to profile at a later date.

Andrew Sharp recently took his Associated Board Music Exam and gained a Grade 5 with Merit on his Tenor Saxophone. It’s not easy to hold down a job, keep two dogs, a wife, go on holiday and to play an instrument etc but not necessarily in that order though!
